5 Creative ways to include your furry friend in your Big Day
They say a dog is man’s best friend and at Northern Beaches Wedding Hire we truly believe this. Many couples get a dog to help prepare and practice for family life, so your furry friend is often more like a first child… and you wouldn’t leave your child at home on your wedding day would you?
Obviously depending on the venue and your pup’s behaviour there may be restrictions on how involved they can really be, but here are a few ideas to get you started…
1. Ring Bearer – if you trust your furry friend not to bolt with your precious rings, a velvet bag attached to the collar or a cushion harnessed to their back is a priceless sight. Have your pup stationed by the wedding arch near the Groomsmen ready to play their part
2. Dog of Honour – buy or make a sign or bandana for your furry friend to wear around their neck and have them on duty with the Groomsmen welcoming your guests as they arrive
3. Walk the Aisle – a real crowd pleaser is when your four legged friend has enough control to walk the aisle in front or beside you, either when the bride first makes her entrance or when the happy couple walk back up the aisle together
4. Dress Ups – your pup doesn’t have to have a specific role, they could simply wear a corsage, bow-tie or special outfit and attend the ceremony or make a guest appearance at the reception
5. Photoshoot – you could arrange for your furry friend to arrive after the ceremony for the official photographs or have a private session with them in the morning when the bridal party is getting ready. Using a picture of your pup on the Save the Date invite is also very popular!
